In CompuChild class,

technology education is more than child's play!

At CompuChild , we help children learn technology and problem-solving skills.  We teach proper computer usage and terminology.  We work with a variety of developmentally appropriate, educational software programs including software children will use in elementary school including Microsoft Office® applications like Word and Excel.  We also use digital cameras, microscopes, scanners, printers and more.  Our curriculum is hands-on, interactive, cooperative, fun, meets or exceeds National Technology Education Standards, and helps develop the whole child.

Through participation in CompuChild classes, children gain a solid understanding of the personal computer as a valuable learning tool.  Not only will children master basic computer skills, they develop academic readiness skills in math, science and literacy as well as life skills to prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow.

Computers are an important aspect of elementary schools systems.  We understand that many young children know how to "play" on the computer, but need direct instruction to fully utilize its capabilities.  Through our program, children are guided by the instructor to develop the technology skills necessary to exceed in school.  In our classes, children use their imagination, increase self-esteem, experience success and have fun! 

Parents tell us that their child is more efficient and careful with their home computer after taking CompuChild classes.  Also many parents find that their children begin to teach them about the computer!

CompuChild Curriculum

CompuChild’s professionally developed lesson plans follow a logical scope and sequence related to technology skills we call “Emphasis Points.”  Each CompuChild class introduces your child to a new Emphasis Point.  Emphasis Points are skills and terminology that will help your child develop a better understanding of the computer and its functionality.  Emphasis Points are taught in a logical progression to develop your child’s ability to understand and operate the personal computer.  CompuChild utilizes educational software to reinforce the Emphasis Points.  To further reinforce the skills learned, your child will also be given a thorough review of past lessons.

Two year olds
Our two year olds are taught in smaller groups for a shorter amount of time to adapt to their attention span.  As with all of our classes, we choose age-appropriate software while still focusing on our technology curriculum.

Preschool
Our preschool program is designed for children to have fun and be creative while reinforcing their academic readiness skills.  We use a variety of developmentally appropriate software exposing the children to various preschool subject matter to assist with their learning development.  While many preschoolers know how to “play” on the computer, we provide the specially trained instructor and structured classes to teach children the proper terminology, and to understand the functionality, proper use and care of the computer. We teach basic keyboarding, word-processing, spreadsheets and multi-media.  Our preschool program is designed for the children to have fun and be creative while reinforcing their academic readiness skills.

Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten program provides a variety of educational software to accommodate the expanding learning capabilities of the kindergarten child. Building on their current skills, we teach them further skills in keyboarding, word-processing, spreadsheets and multimedia.  The knowledge gained through CompuChild classes will give your child a head start when they enter first grade.

Technology Enrichment Camps
We offer enrichment camps at daycare centers, schools, YMCA’s and community centers throughout the country.  Using fun and creative technology, we plan entertaining activities for the children.  Our camps are structured around appealing themes to children like colors, pets, dinosaurs or sports.  Activities may include making t-shirts, using digital microscopes, making books or movies, using a digital camera to make a scrapbook and more.  CompuChild camps are always a hit with the kids.

After School Programs
CompuChild after school programs are designed for children in elementary school.  We teach more advanced skills in keyboarding, word-processing, spreadsheets and multimedia.
